ANUBIS

Anubis, the god of the death.

The Great Walk was the journey made by souls in search of the afterlife.

The person responsible for leading souls to the underworld was named Anubis.

Anubis was known as the god of the dead, but he was also known as the god of dying and mummification.

According to Egyptian stories, Anubis was the guardian responsible for judging the dead when they arrived in the room of the two truths.

The merit of conquering eternal life was based on a test made by Anubis who, with a scale, placed the individual's heart to mediate through the Pen of Truth.

All of a person's deeds would be stored in his heart, and if deeds were heavier than the Feather of Truth, the soul would be unworthy of attaining eternal life and his body would be devoured by a demon called Ammit. However, if the heart was lighter than the Feather of Truth, it meant that the person was full of goodness, being able to cross the Nile River having access to paradise.

The dark skin tone of Anubis has a funereal connection, because, in the mummification process, resins and bitumen were used, which gave this aspect to the mummified bodies.

This color represents the putrefaction of bodies, resurrection and fertility.

The cult of Anubis began around 3100 and 2686 BC.
